Privacy Policy

TherapistsNearMe ("we") helps people in India find credential-verified mental-health professionals. Privacy is not a compliance checkbox for us — it is the product. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and how long we keep it, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

What we collect

If you send an enquiry to a therapist, we collect the details you type: first name, phone number, email, and an optional message — with your explicit consent on the form. That is the only place on this platform where we collect your identity. You never need an account.

If you use the guided "help me choose" flow, your answers (what you need help with, language, budget, preferences, pincode) are stored anonymously — under a random identifier that is never linked to your name, and cannot be.

Therapists who list with us provide professional details, credential documents, and registration numbers for verification. Credential documents are stored privately and never shown publicly.

We use no advertising or analytics trackers. The only cookies are a login session (for therapists and administrators) and your language preference.

Why we collect it

Enquiry details are used for exactly one purpose: delivering your enquiry to the therapist you chose, and once, a few days later, asking you privately how it went. We do not use your details for marketing, we do not sell or share data with advertisers, and we do not share data with any other platform.

How long we keep it

Enquiry identity (name, phone, email, message) is automatically erased 12 months after the enquiry. The only exception is a specific legal hold while an active complaint or dispute involving that enquiry is being resolved.

Anonymous guided-flow answers are deleted after 6 months.

Therapist verification records are retained while the profile is listed, as evidence of our due diligence.

Who we share it with

Your enquiry goes only to the therapist you chose — that is the point of the service, and you consent to it on the form. Behind the scenes we use infrastructure providers (email delivery, server hosting) that process data under contract for us. Nobody else.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask for correction or erasure, and withdraw consent. Because we hold so little, this is usually fast. Write to our Grievance Officer — details on the Grievance page.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to enquiry data is restricted and logged, credential documents live outside the public web root, and every administrative action on the platform is recorded in an audit log.
